    Posted Feb 11, 2013 01:49 AM

    Good day,

How do I bring back the SEP icon shield it has dissapeared on the system tray.  The settings are configured correctly as on this link https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/symantec-endpoint-protection-manager-tray-icon

SEP icon is not displaying only on one machine, should I repair SEP and what could have caused the icon to dissapear

    Thank you

    Hello,

Check if the client is properly communicating with the SEPM.

I would suggest you to please Repair the SEP client from the Add/ Remove Programs of that machine OR / AND please replace the sylink.xml file on the client machine.

    Secondly, check this Thread: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/symantec-121-ru1-missing-tray-icon

To hide the shield icon we will need to add the following registry (dword 32bit) and set the value to 0 (1 for showing the icon)

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SMC\LaunchSmcGui

You will need to restart SMC service before you can see the effect.

    Hope that helps!!

Open the icon to see it is connected to the SEPM. Try a repair if not.

Was the SEP GUI by any chance disabled? Have a look at the following registry entry:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SMC\LaunchSmcGui -

...is this key set to "0"?

    Hi,

Check your local system taskbar and start menu settings.

Make sure it's not customized to display behavior as a "Always hide"

It it's not then repair the SEP client with the help of original setup files.

If setup couldn't help then need to run SST logs to find out possible root cause.
