SEP 12 (Small Business) or SEP 12.1 (enterprise edition)?

Is this happening on one client only or on many?

    Hello,

What version of SEP 12.1 are you installing? Is that SEP 12.1 RTM or SEP 12.1 RU1?

Could you try visiting the Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices > Check if you have any yellow exclamation OR Red X under "Network Adapters" Or "Non-Plug and Play Drivers"?

Also try removing the  Network Threat Protection (NTP) component, then reboot the machine and install it again.

    1. Windows Control Panel Add or Remove Programs Symantec Endpoint Protection Change > Modify >  Network Threat Protection Entire feature will be unavailable.
    2. Reboot
    3. Windows Control Panel Add or Remove Programs Symantec Endpoint Protection Change > Modify >  Network Threat Protection Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive.
    4. Reboot

    OR

TRY installing the SEP 12.1 RU1 and check if that resolves the issue.

If the issue still persists, Try Running the Cleanwipe version 12.1 (available with Technical Support)

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/how-get-cleanwipe-tool

    Hope that helps!!

    Hi friends,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I am trying to install sep12 RU1. This problem is occuring in only one machine. I am not getting repair option in ARP for symantec. Reinstalled SEP12 still the same. Please suggest.

    Hi Mithun,

I don't find any exclaimation mark or red x mark under "Network Adapters" Or "Non-Plug and Play Drivers"?

Unable to remove Network Threat Protection since I don't find Change option for Symantec in ARP. I clicked on Repair but it is not giving option to repair or modify SEP12.

    Hello,

In this case, then the option remains is to create a new custom package without the Network Threat Protection and deploy the same on the machine.

    Hope that helps!!

    Hi;

On SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1 this issue is fixed.

    From link: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH169271&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1340361325897

    Solution

A fix for this issue has been released in the 12.1 RU1 MP1 and 11.0 RU7 MP2 versions of the Symantec Endpoint Protection product.

The steps below outline a separate workaround:

    1) Uninstall SEP client from the Win 7 Machine
    2) Take back up of the registry
    3) Delete the following keys

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\eventlog\System\Teefer3
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\services\eventlog\System\Teefer3
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\services\Teefer3
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Teefer3

    4) Reboot the machine
    5) Reinstall SEP client.
