    Hi everyone

    In one company, there was installed SEPM 11.0.6. They have a more than 1000 clients, used embedded database.

    Yesterday I started the upgrade process to SEPM12 Ru1. I run setup.exe, and then Management Server configuration wizzard. It was take a long time for upgrade process, especially "dumping data to the file system". This morning when I came to work, I'm trying to start SEPM console but I can't.

    Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service could not be started. In event logs I have a two errors:

     

    event log error 1 /  Event id: 4097 - source: semsrv

    The LoadLibrary function failed for the following reason: The specified module could not be found

     

    event log error 2 /  Event id: 4096 - source: semsrv

    Could not load the java virtual machine

     

    I notice I didn't do database backup.

    I need a quick help pls.

    can you run the upgrade.bat or repair the SEPm and let know if it fixes. if it does not, pass on the scm-server-0.log.

    Hello,

    Could please provide us the scm-server-0.log and catalina.out.log to understand the root cause of the issue?

    What version of Java are you running?

    What OS are you running the SEPM on?

    Secondly, I would recommend you uninstalling the Remote Java console and the Desktop shortcut for Remote Java console.

    I run upgrade.bat but errors still ocurred.

    @Mithun

    OS is Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 x86, 4GB ram. WSUS is installed on the same server.

    Java 7 update 5 is installed.

    I found catalina.out log files but I don't have a newer catalina.out files then 13.01.2009.

    can you check if the DB service has started?

    i assume you are using sybase db.

    I don't have DB service listed in services. Before upgrade I saw that was listed

    hence the issue, do you have the working backup?

    if yes install SEPM 11 RU 6 ( the existing version before upgrade)  restore working DB then try upgrading.

    That is the problem number 2. I have old backup only, from 15. Dec 2010. I didn't run backup before upgrade. I made mistake I know

    Hello,

    Java 7 is not supported with SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1.

    However in the further releases of SEP, it may be supported.

    Could you uninstall Java 7.5 and install Older Version of Java (Java 1.6 update 31 / 32 ) and Run the Migration and Deployment Wizard and check if that helps.

    Secondly, Here are the steps with Java 1.6 update 31 to access SEPM via Java console:

    1. Make sure you have installed the latest version of Java 1.6 update 31 installed on the SEPM server.
    2. Open a web browser and go to: http://localhost:9090/
    3. Once the site comes up click the "DOWNLOAD & LOG IN" link (the upper right hand button).  This should launch the remote console.
    4. If you get a Java security error that says "Block potentially unsafe components from being run?" click "No".

    I uninstalled Java 7 and after that I installed Java 1.6 u32. I run repair installation of sepm12 from control panel - add remove programs, and next after thar I run upgrade.bat but I get the following message

    "The upgrade tool cannot upgrade trhe database it cannot dump data from the old database. You should reinstall Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and then use the Databse Backup and Restore tool to restore the database. "

     

     

    I don't have a fresh backup copy, only from dec 2010. What I need to do?

    Is there any solution to recover the database to use for upgrade?

    In attachment I post log file created after this wizzard above finished.

    Hello,

    Nothing to Worry. Work on the Steps below:

    1. Click Next to complete the installation.
    2. Navigate to %Program Files%\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin.
    3. Run the upgrade.bat to complete the migration.

    It seems that only solution is like peet said.

    I uninstalled sepm 12, then I installed sepm 11, and now I'm restoring old database, from dec 2010.

    Now help me, how to import in sep console all clients installed from dec 2010 to 12 june 2012 ?

    my site name is the same like old, name server and ip address are same too.

    Is possible to import clients that are managed with my "old" server ?

    if the SEPM has the same certificates and you have the DB, client will report to the SEPM after successfull restore of DB and the certificates.
