Some programs need the firewall disabled to run. For instance Remote Access. When we disable the firewall in SEP and go to the Windows Firewall it tells us the Firewall is still managed by Symantec.
How do we disable the Syamantec Firewall and use the Windows firewall?
What version are you on? You need to withdraw the firewall policy completely if you don't want to use it and use Windows instead. Or you can remove the firewall component altogether.
Or you can edit your policy to allow the Windows fw, see here:
Please provide exact SEPM version .
See this Blog
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/how-enable-windows-firewall-setting-windows-7-machine-sepm-1212
Version
Common client 12.1.1.5
We are also using Self managed and not a server.
Then you need to remove the firewall component via add/remove programs. Once removed, the Windows firewall will again be active.
You need to remove firewall feature in SEP package add/remove progrma
That works. Thanks.
You're welcome.
You dont need to disable the features,
Click on Start -> Run
To disable SEP client firewall service type
smc -disable –ntp
To enable client firewall service type
smc -enable -ntp
He wants to use the windows firewall
Time to get glasses :) , You are right !!!
