  • 1.  SEP 12 Upgrade - Licensing Question

    Posted Dec 05, 2011 11:54 AM

We have SEP 11.0.6 MP2 in production right now.  We have a SEP server in our main office and a replication partner server in one of our remote offices.

Now that licensing is handled differently in SEP 12.1, is there anything special I need to do with regards to registering the serial on both servers?  Will I be able to or will I not be able to use the same license information for both machines?  Any advice on how to go about the licensing portion in a multi-server environment would be appreciated!

There is nothing special you need to do. You just need to obtain all of your licenses and submit them on the Primary server. The licensing will carry over via replication to the other SEPMs. If you have multiple licenses, then be sure to look over multi-year licensing in the Implementation Guide.

You will also want to make sure to keep copies of all your .slf files as part of your regular DR/BCP process.

    Hello,

There is nothing special you would require.

I would suggest you to go through these Articles for more clearity:

    1) Licensing Symantec Endpoint Protection

    3) Activating your Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 product license

    4) Downloading a license file

    5) Licensing an unmanaged client

    Hope that helps!!

Thanks for all of the good info!

How does the licensing impact having a separate test environment?   Would I have to get an additional license for this or could I still use the same?

    Hello,

    No special license required.

You can either use a Trial Version OR the same version on the Test Enviornment.

The SEPM and SEP clients when not applied with the License would run without any issue for first 60 days.

    Hope that helps!!
