  • 1.  SEP 12: Virus Definitions Not Updating

    Posted Sep 28, 2011 03:08 PM

Just upgraded to SEP12 recently, and it has been working fine for the most part. However, the updating of Virus Definitions stops on machines randomly. So far to correct the problem, i've had to go to the machine reporting the issue, and manually run LiveUpdate to get the definitions to update. Sometimes this solves the issue, and other times it reoccurs within 5 days. All problem machines appear to be reporting to SEP Manager just fine.

Has anyone else had this issue? and if so, how have you resolved it?

Check for any similarities. Same network or subnet or stopped at the same definition date. If this happens on schedule - then it could be the connection between your SEPM to Symantec for the updates. If it only happens to a few PCs consistently, then start there. It either could be a corruption during transfer of data. Or some PCs get disconnected during transfer. You could set up a temporary GUP or review the timeout settings to see if clients are being diconnected by other processes.
