    Posted Oct 08, 2013 12:00 PM

    Hello,

Is there a best practice guide to follow for installing SEP 12.1 on a 2008 R2 Print Server?  Our server admins believes that the print spooler service and the directory is being scanned by Symantec and causing curruption in the print spooler and the print jobs.  Ofcourse, the first idea is to exclude the print spooler service and the directory from scans.  However, will this also compromise security?  Specially in cases such as the one below when a virus is actually targeted towards the print spooler service and the print spooler directory.  Please advise.

I'm not sure you need to exclude anything. We run SEP on all our print servers without any exclusions and it's fine. Have you tried temporarily disabling to see what the result is? What version of SEP is this? What components do you have installed?

SEP on servers best practice guide is here:

    Hello,

There are no specific best practices for print servers.

However, as stated above - check the

Also, make sure the Firewall is set to allow file and print sharing.

    Hope that helps!!
