  • 1.  SEP 12.1 - client languages + CentralQ

    Posted Sep 15, 2011 07:55 AM

    Hello,

I'm upgrading to SEP 12.1 and I have a question about (sep client) languages.

It looks like a good idea to use "Install packages" in "Clients" section.

Is there any possibility to let users choose their language version when their clients are upgraded this way ?

Second question is about CentralQ. According to docs it hasn't been tested (and is not supported) on x64 systems but I'm upgrading to WinServer 2008R2smiley. Is there any progress or workaround to run it on x64 systems ?

    Thanks

    Bad news about CQ sad

Mixed language is ok, but I ment, if it is possible to let users choose language of their client during upgrade when I'm using "Install packages". According to my testing I'll have to distribute upgrades another way or users will just have english version only smiley (better for administration).

    Thx

    Hi Kyli,

Is there any specific reason why you still need Central Quarantine?  In an all-SEP environment, it really does not add much functionality that is not already built in to the product.

See this thread for some more details: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep-symantec-central-quarantine

IMHO, It's not likely that there ever will be a 64-bit CQ.

    Hi,

CQ is not necessary,  I just want to upgrade all running tools.

    Thanks

I don't like it that there is no interest to work further on CQ because alot of customers I know are using it and like it to have central point for that.

    Hi Martin,

    Many thanks for the feedback!

Feel free to create a Connect Forum "Idea" (Enhancement request) fro new CQ features, platforms, etc.  Forum members can then vote to support the ideas they like.  In certain past instances, the proposed features were added to future releases of SEP if there was wide enough public support.

As an example, here is an Idea that I added earlier today:

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Support for PowerPC
