Log file attached. I have several hours invested in this and it constantly fails. I disabled UAC and Windows Defender, uninstalled MS Security Essentials. I have run the cleanwipe tool and am running as administrator.

    Post the SIS_INST.log as well

What logs do I need to gather in order to troubleshoot a failed SEP 12.1 client installation?

Update your Windows root certs as well and re-try the install, See these:

Looks from the log that the script execution is failing when creating registry keys and other settings.

Could you please check the status of windows defender or other security software that might be active, Disable and try installing SEP if it is turned on.

Marking AJ's response as 'best answer' as the tech note refers to Windows Defender still apparently being able to block the writing of registry keys, even when the service is stopped. Pretty Peculiar. Disabling the service and restarting appears to be the solution to stop it interfering with the SEP install.
