Endpoint Protection

Hi Guys,

We have SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1 configured in HA mode (2 SEPM servers with same priority). Now we need to upgrade to version 12.1 RU2 for Windows 8 support.

I have found this excellent guide for upgrade but what should be the sequence to upgrade two SEPM servers running with same priority in HA mode.

Hello,

Make sure you Disable the Replication and then Migrate to the Latest version of SEP 12.1 RU2 and later Enable the Replication again.

its the same procedure what you would have followed for other versions, key point is to disable the replication and stop the sepm service before upgrade.

Back up DB

Stop Replication

•  stop the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service
•  
• upgrade Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
•  
•  enable replication after migration

Thanks Guys for your responsed. I need to know about SEP clients. Would they be automatically updated once I upgrade SEPM servers? What will be the impact on clients running 12.1.1 agent once SEPM servers are moved 12.1.2?

clients need to be upgraded, they will not update automtaically. You can use the autoupgrade feature.

there should not be impact for clients if the SEPM is upgraded.SEPm 12.1 clients still can talk to the upgraded SEPM.
