SEP 12.1 RU2 Database problem?
Created: 30 Jan 2013 | 5 comments
Hi,
We're on the middle of replacing our SEP 11.06 Running on a Windows Server 2008 with a new SEPM on another server running SEPM 12.1 RU2 on a Windows Server 2012, BUT it will use the same MS SQL Server 2008 database
Questions:
1. Is it possible to use the same MS SQL Server 2008 on the new SEPM 12.1 RU2 running on the Windows Server 2012?
I'm thinking that it might not work because of the Server 2012?
I hope someone can provide their experience and documentation about it.
Thanks,

Hi,
The SQL Server was already installed, So we cannot install this already in slipstream mode. So this is feasable option.
Thanks
SEPM 12.1 RU 2 is supported on Windows 2012 server. Note that the DB restore has to be on same version as that of SEPM.
Cheers!

Have a look at the server move procedure:
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH104389
....easiest way to fully accomplish your task you would need first to upgrade your existing server to RU2 then follow the move procedure and connect the new server to same DB (already updated to RU2 schema bye the previous server).
Connecting to RU2 to DB with 11.x schema will not work.
