  • 1.  SEP 12.1 / SCCM - Single EXE or Mutlple Files + MSI for Upgrade Deployment??

    Posted Nov 20, 2012 10:15 AM

    Hi everyone.

For SCCM admins on here - do you deploy the single exe (making it silent..etc as part of the client settings/feature set) or create the package witth multple files and use the msi package and msiexec switches to manipulate the behaviour?

We have 11.x and want to deploy 12.1 via SCCM and am currently testing options and the process.

Appreciate your thoughts and if anyone has had their figners burnt, what to avoid!

We are on Update 1 = 12.1.1101.401 build.

    Thank You

We deploy the MSI with the msiexec switches. We've had no issues, just make sure to use the switches you need. We do it all silent so as not to bother the users.

    Thanks Brian,

I think the earlier articles about MSInstaller, is the reason for single exe - but as you know msi is more versatile.

Guess I will test with both and check.  Thanks.
