    Posted Sep 02, 2011 08:25 AM

I have one machine on SEP 12.1 where the scheduled scan runs every night,

It is supposed to run on Friday night at 11:45pm but instead it runs on every night at 10pm

The machine was upgraded from SEP 11.0.6300 and is XP SP3

    Any idea's?

    Hello,

Is this happening to only 1 machine??

Are the Scheduled Scans running properly on all other machines??

Are there any User defined Scans configured on this machine which is under question??

Again, as per your question, scan was suppose to run on weekly basis and this is running every night at 10pm. So, are you sure the scan running is a Scheduled Scan?

So far it only appears to this machine, but I'm only testing 12.1 with roughly 20 machines.

No, I have a couple other machies that run at their scheduled time however, they will run at other random times as well.

No user defined scans are configured

It should be a scheduled scan. How can I check within the SEPM logs? They don't seem to tell me?

    Hello,

    Please read this Article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH163602

Also, It seems very similar to this Issue: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH103868

In instances where the client has been upgraded from a previous version Symantec Endpoint Protection, old scheduled scans are sometimes left behind. To eliminate these duplicate scans, a utility called SymRmvScan can be obtained from Symantec Technical Support.

    Using the "SymRmvScan" Utility

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH105319&locale=en_US

In Support, improved performance with Full System Scans has been seen by doing standard Windows Maintenance on the problem machine. This would include deleting temporary files, defragmenting the hard drive, and clearing up disk space.

    Hope this Utility helps!!!

Is this tool now supported for 12.1? I have it for 11.x

I have mentioned this problem in two threads so far and nobody has been able to provide me with any useful information:

    http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/symantec-endpoint-protection-active-scan-upon-startup-non-stop

    http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/manual-scan-pop-ups-occuring-all-remote-desktop-sessions

I have used Symantec Cleanwipe before upgrading to 12.1, and have used it each time I re-installed 12.1.  I never had any manual scans going for the 11.x versions.  So, I have no idea why my SEP 12.1 decides to scan every day on my Windows 7 x64 machine.  It does NOT scan on my XP machine, which was also upgraded (but using Cleanwipe to remove the older version) from 11.x.

This is really annoying.  I wouldn't mind if I didn't SEE the scan, but to log in to my machine and have a scan pop-up is pretty annoying, especially when I can't even disable it from happening again.
