SEP 12.1.2 and ATOM Proccessor
Created: 26 Feb 2013 | 6 comments
Our UK Team is Testing Windows 8 using an ATOM Proccessor.
I looked at the Hardware requires and it does not say that it will work with this type of proccessor?
Am I wrong? They say they are getting the following error:
"The installation package is not supported by this processor"
Not sure if this is a 32bit or 64bit issue if that what it could be.

The requirements don't show it but since it is not there I would think it will not work. And if you can get it to work, it may not be supported. Judging by the error message you got, doesn't look like it will work.

Symantec 12.1 ru2 is not supported to Atom Processor
Hi usacc23,
I believe that those Intel Atom processors are used in embedded systems (systems that generally run XP Embedded, WEPOS, WES7, etc). For example:
What exact version of Windows 8 is running? Is it the full Windows 8, or is it a similar-but-different version like Windows RT?
The full SEP 12.1 can run on most embedded platforms, if the system requirements are ample. (Enough RAM, space, etc). Can you provide more info on what you are trying to install on?
With thanks and best regards,
Mick

Hi usacc23,
Just another note on this -- a colleague just came up to me with a Motorola phone (Android OS) that has Intel Atom as its processor. We installed Symantec Mobile Security 7.2 on that device without any difficulty.
Some reading:, for Atom users who are runnign Android rather than Win8:

Hope this helps! Please update the thread with any additional info you have.
