    @Symantec,

What is meant by "basic compatibility" with SEP 12.1.6 MP5 while running on the Win10 Builld 1607?  What does the support look like for this?

    Thanks!

Good question. No one seems to know other than what is mentioned in the support article. Would love to get clarification on this.

Got the following from Symantec support:

What I have found concerning what "Basic Compatibility" means the SEP 12.1.6 MP5 client will do the following on a Windows 10 Anniversary system:

    1. SEP client installs
    2. Verification of Protection Technologies work

    • Anti-Virus
    • Download Insight
    • Sonar (BASH)
    • Firewall
    • Intrusion Pervention Services

    3. Reporting and Logs forwarding to SEPM console
    4. Windows 10 defender turns off when SEP is installed.

All the functionality for the SEP Client is available.  As far as I can find about "Full Support" it is possible there are custom features in Windows 10 Anniversary that are not completely integrated.  I have not found any information on what "Full Support" means.

    Greetings,

To clarify, everything is functional on the SEP client, as long as you don't install/enable HVCI or Device Guard.

The reason the document mentions compatibility is because we can't claim full support with everything that Windows 10 Anniversary Update has to offer. The remaining two pieces blocking that statement will be addressed in our next major release, as indicated in the article on this topic.

    Hope that helps!

When is the next major version due that will support 1607, as per the article?
