Hi chaps a very quick question. Is the licensing that Symantec provide for SEP perpetual?

No. It is either 1 or 3yr, depending on which you puchased. But you will have to re-up and it is not indefinite.

Software licensing is perpetual, but maintenence is not. You can use the software for as long as you want but services such as pattern updates, release updates/patches and support (which you will want to have access to at some point) are only available to you if you have a valid maintenance contract covering the number of clients you manage with SEP.

some times it depends on the contract. if you are an educational instution or a government agency there are chances. but if you are not the above said ones then you will be provided only a max of  of 3 years.

I haven't seen SEP perpetual license in any customer environment. However sales people can provide more details than us.

I have seen 3 years subscibtion max & when you purchase a multi-year license, you receive a set of license files equal to the number of years your license is valid. For instance, a three-year license consists of three separate license files. When you activate a multi-year license, you import all of the license files during the same activation session. The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager merges the separate license files into a single activated license that is valid for the purchased duration.
