SEP 12.1 does not support Windows 2000 and will not install. It will tell you it can't when you run the installer.

Need to stick with 11.x or go away from 2000 :)

    Hello,

Windows 2000 is not supported by Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.

However, you can install SEP 11.x from the SEPM 12.1 on the Windows 2000 machine which can be managed easily by SEP 12.1

    Hi Buckeye1,

    "Thumbs up" to the above.

Besides: applying patches against all known vulnerabilities is an important part of maintaining computer security.  There haven't been any new patches for Win2K in years.  If a threat did come along which operates by exploiting a known vulnerability, and SEP 12.1 wasn't working correctly for some reason (it was not tested/certified to be working perfectly on Win2K), that machine and everything on it could be compromised.  Even if it was somehow possible to get 12.1 onto 2000, I would not stake my company's wellbeing on a seceurity solution that had been hacked-on.
