Hello all, I am trying to install SEP 12.1.4 MP1 on windows 8.1 but it is failing everything.

Have you try clean wipe tool ?

First try cleanwipe tool and again try to install

Could you try to install any older version of SEP 12.1 and see if get any success?

I don't see how this can be an acceptable solution, to remain on an outdated version...call support if you can't get the latest version installed. Surely, they can help.

guys when I run the installer I get this error.

Does you have try local admin account ? Does Windows Defender'are disabled ?

have you try unmanaged sep client ?

Yup 

I tried to disable windows defender and ran it then same issue 

ran cleanwipe then ran same issue

have local admin right

its unamanged client

what to do now ?

Hi , can you check if UAC is disabled on your system and then reboot and try installation.

I suggest you can contact symantec support may be received some other problem.

The SEP_Inst.log file is of 11th, SIS is of 17th.

I want you two delete these two, try installing, post the SEP and SIS log, you need to match times where its failing...

I would sugest to run cleanwipe one more time & then try to install using .msi package. 

Chetan I have ran cleanwipe couple of times and installation but the same problem happens

But now when I try to install  it gives me the following error. Screenshot is attached.

can you try this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.

After running cleanwipe search the registry for any references to symantec and delete. Also, go thru c:\program files and delete any remaining folders.

Lastly, what I would suggest is to install the unmanaged version (AV only) and see if it installs, if so, add the other components you need and replace the sylink to make it managed.

Thought you are trying to install it locally, SEP_Inst.log file isn't generating?

Guys , after doing some OS troubleshooting It was revealed that some DLL files were missing which was causing this to happend. Reparing those DLL's fixed the issue and SEP was able to get installed. Thanks all for your help
