  • 1.  SEP and DLINK "dir-855" wireless restart

    Posted Apr 14, 2010 05:48 AM

    Hello

I am sitting in a small company where we have problems whith our DLINK router and LINKSYS router that restarts the wireless interface from time to time.

The server is running "symantec endpoint protection manager" and the clients are running SEP version 11.0.4014.26

I have disabled "block IPv6" "block IPv6 over IPv4 (teredo)" "block IPv6 over IPv4 (isatap)" i have also allowed EAPOL.

But nothing work still getting "random" restarts of wireless on both routers DLINK more often then LINKSYS, i  have thought about using WIRESHARK to see which
package that corrupts but havnt had the time yet. but since it is both routers i would try SEP first

    Anyone got a Clue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THX for help in advance

    But suddenly everything works ?????

My test enviroment 2 vista machines hooked up to the D-link (one cable one WIFI both running SEP 11.0.5000) Worked this morning havnt changed a thing??

So i started wondering how long do it take for policies from Manager to take effect ??? i know that i can change a time interval but i seems strange that i cant see if a policy has taken effect at client level..

For test i will try to enable "block IPv6" "block IPv6 over IPv4 (teredo)" "block IPv6 over IPv4 (isatap)" i have also allowed EAPOL Again. And allow clients in test group to change firewall settings (this will enable me to see when policy change has taken effect).

Then run my test enviroment again to see if i can provoke the wifi restart again. will write what i find:....

I have tried everything to provoke same error (wifi restart) but cant, everything is enable and clients running 11.0.5000.

I the only difference between when i had the wireless restart is these 2 log entrys:

22-04-2010 09:18:38 Information Network Threat Protection -- Engine version: 11.0.301
22-04-2010 10:38:10 Information New virus definition file loaded. Version: 120421aj.

will asume that the first one have fixed something am i right ???

if not i cant seem to see what else it could be unless some other wifi router was turned on the last time i tested...

Ill continue updating my clients to 11.0.5000 now and se what happens when we put it on a network containing 6 D-Link dir-855 routers.

But can anyone tell me what those to updates fixed???
