  • 1.  SEP and DLP end points on same machines

    Hi All,

We have both SEP 12.1.X EP's and DLP EP's on all our machines. To try and stop the two clients causing any possible resourcing issues on machines I applied the best practice exceptions as recommended in this document https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH180886.html  from Symantec. But there still seems to be some issues. Our End User Computing dept., as part of their processes will have to copy large numbers of files to an external drives. This now causes performance issues with high CPU usage times etc. Do any of you know of any other changes or settings that can be made to help with this problem either in SEP or DLP.

    Cheers

What is the exact process causing high CPU usage? There isn't much to look at from a SEP perspective but you may also want to post this in the DLP forum as well.

What's the data size to copy on external server? let us know Process name & % usage of CPU of that period.

I think this maybe just a DLP problem, and something that is a feature of the product depending on how it is setup. When our EUC guys are copying, say, 10,000 files to an external USB drive the client DLP has to process it's stack of rules for each file being copied, so I can only assume that this will cause resource problems on the affected machines. I will mark this thread as a solution and maybe just see what response i may from the DLP forum.

    Thanks
