I had an error while installing .NET 3.5 SP1 and remove .NET and reinstall. While .NET was uninstalled when the machine would boot I would get an smc.exe error. Does anyone know if smc or other SEP components relies on .NET? I've looked in most of the documentation and don't see any mention of .NET. Come on MR4 MP2.... Thanks for any help!

Relation between SEP and .NET:
SEP client is not realated to .NET
SEP Manager is realated to .NET and would stop functioning if >NET is uninstalled on the fly

No this is not a Dell. Would anyone have any ideas why this is happening. It's happened in every case where we need to remove .NET in order to reinstall it. Kedar, just to be clear I am talking about the client. Thanks for everyone's help.

I will try to post the exact error we are seeing...could this possibly have anything to do with Application and Device control being enabled. Looking through the fixes for MR4 MP1a I notice a bunch of .NET apps that have problems when App & Device control is enabled.
