    Hi everybody!

I just read that server 08 SP2 is due very soon.   Does anyone know if installing this will impact the SEP management console?

    thanks,

My thought is that it shouldn't impact the management console at all, but you never know. So I would just like to remind people again to test everything before going live. It is always surprising to me that people just roll everything live and then are mad because there machines are out of commission while they troubleshoot. So please don't be one of these people

    According to Microsoft:

Windows Server 2003 Service Packs required a lot of application testing? Should I expect the same from Windows Server 2008 SP2?

No, customers can expect a much simpler upgrade process with WS08 SP2. Previous service packs addressed known security vulnerabilities to Windows Server by tightening the authorization needed for some services and disabling others all together. In some cases these security enhancements resulted in unexpected behavior from applications. With WS08 SP2, customers can expect a normal service pack up updates, rollups, and hotfixes.

Thank you Hall for information shared. I had the same doubt  about Win2008 Server SP2.

I'm just bumping this one up.

has anyone tried to update their server 2008 to sp2 with SEP on it?  just curious if there are any issues before I try it myself.

I've been testing 2008 SP2 for a few weeks now and haven't had any issues with SEP. I plan on upgrading 2 production machines to 2008 SP2 tonight and then upgrading their SEP version from MR4 to MR4 MP2 which seems to work the best.

In testing when I upgraded SEP to MR4 MP2 and then installed 2008 SP2 the SEP client wouldn't start automatically because SP2's installer disables it (can always turn it back on but meh).

If everything goes well and no serious issues arise between now and Friday I'll be upgrading the rest of our 2008 machines to SP2. Well, except for our Exchange server. I'm not very keen on being a SP2 guinnea pig when it's something as important as email. =-)

Thank you Comfortablysad.  I just wanted to report that i installed SP2 on my server 2008 ENT x86 and I had no issues with it.

Next I will try upgrading to MR4 MP2... i hope that is pretty straightforward too!!!!!

This issue is marked solved but I'll respond anyway. I have 2008 SP2 installed on all of my 2008 servers now including our Exchange server. SEP MR4 MP2 is also installed on each of these servers and I've seen no issues.
