  • 1.  SEP AntiVirus and Antispyaware protect showing OFF

    Posted Jul 09, 2009 12:45 AM
    Hi,

Currently my SEP is installed in a isolated network. Bascially I upgrade the virus definition manually. On my client machine I see that the AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection is OFF. Why is that so? I can see that the virus definition is updated to the latest. If it is showing OFF, is it still protecting the PC? Why is it showing OFF?

Have you disabled File system auto-Protect , Lotus notes auto-protect,Internet email AP Exchange email AP?
If any one of these is turned it might show it is off.
Try enabling these ans see if everything is fine

File-System auto-protect should be always on..rest can be turned off.

beside the information provided by the experts, check the application event id associated with the error. I have seen Auto protect failed becuase of the definition update. Hence see application event id  aas well as the client system log.
    cheers

    Hi,

I have never turn off anything. I leave everything as default. 1 thing that I notice is when I try to press the fix all button, the AV is on again. However, I am only able to see the fix it button when i log in as admin. Normal user cannot see the fix it button. Why is that so?

Please check communications with the client and the SEPM,

After you fix the problems, does it occur after a restart of the client PC?
