This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I'm having rpoblem with my Microsoft Server clustering service intermitten drop out when using SEP v11.0.6005.562 is this SEP 11 RU5 ? as described in this article ? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981475

Because I've just spent $400 troubleshooting this strange reandom issue and the culprit is the Anti Virus, now my question is that what is the latest SEP client that can be used so that I won't get this problem again ?

Supposed I'm upgrading my SQL Server cluster with the latest SEP v12 do I have to upgrade the SEP manager as well or can I just upgrade the SEP client to the latest only ?

any thoughts and comment please ?

SEP 12 client will not report to SEPM 11 , hence you need to upgrade the SEPM and SEP client

Hello,

As per the MS Article provided, it pinpoints to Symantec Article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH97096

which suggests you to Migrate to Latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 RU6 and above.

However, When Migrating to the Latest version, a recommended procedure / practice is to Migrate the SEPM and then the clients to the same version.

Secondly, in your case SEPM 11 would not be able to Manage SEP 12.1 Clients.

Since you are running an Older version of SEP 11.x and would like to Migrate to the Latest version of SEP 12.1, you would have to follow the Migration procedure as below:

SEP 11.0.5000 --->> SEP 12.1 RU1 --->> SEP RU1 MP1

Check these Articles:

Upgrading or migrating to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1(RU1 )

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH174545

Upgrading or migrating to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1101 (RU1 MP1)

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH187753

and a Quick Access to Symantec Knowledgebase Articles of Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1

Hope that helps!!

Hi,

Upgrade to SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1.

Upgrade path is SEP 11.0.5000 ---> SEP 12.1 RU1 --->SEP RU1 MP1

Check till date SEP releases:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/what-are-symantec-endpoint-protection-sep-versions-released-officially

Prior to upgrade check this article

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/sep-11x-sep-121-upgrade-process-graphical-overview

You will have to upgrade both i.e. SEP Manager & SEP clients.Because SEP 11 Manager can't manage SEP 12 clients
