What is the heartbeat set to? Perhaps they hadn't checked in yet. Did you confirm they client is communication with the SEPM? (green dot on client) Is it showing in the SEPM?

Not sure what the hearbeat is set to. The client just never checks in after installation therefore it shows on the SEP server as not being installed. We have let them sit for a week and they dont check in. usually have to uninstall and reinstall then it might or might not check in and verify the installation.

If you installed a client package from SEPM, it needs to check in. Otherwise it could be a communication issue.

On one of the clients, in the SEP interface, under Help > Troubleshooting > Management, what does it say next to "Server"?
In the same pane, under "Connection Status", if you click Connect Now, any errors noted?

Hello,
Which version of SEP 12.1 is installed?
What OS are the client machines installed with?
To understand the root cause, we may need the sylink.log from 1 of the client machine which is not reporting to the client machine.
Check this Article on how to collect the Sylink.log files - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH104758
Secondly, you may also concentrate on these Articles below to Troubleshoot the issue -

Hope that helps!!
