SEP blocks DHCP in Windows Server 2008R2 - HELP!!!

Created: 08 Feb 2010 • Updated: 09 Feb 2011 | 7 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

My setup

 - Windows Server 2008 R2 /DHCP /DNS /Domain services
 - Syamantec Endpoint Protection version 11.0.5002.333 is installed.

 - I have a very strange problem with SEP. It blocks every incoming DHCP discover request. If i disable it, the dhcp discover works fine and dhcp can lease ip to clients. I have tested this on another computer with the Server 2008R2. Why should SEP block incoming DHCP request? Is there anyway that i can fix it? Anyother have the same problem?

Every input is kindly appriciated.

you need to add network service in firewall for dhcp and dns

open sepm
right click edit
click on add rules at the bottom
click on add network service at the bottom
select dhcp server, dns, ftp, whatever you want to allow
click on finish
move this policy to the top, ( 1st)
apply to all your groups, should allow dhcp request

Have you installed all components of SEP. Mainly Network Threat Protection ( Firewall). The firewall might be blocking these request.Would recommend to install only Antivirus and Antispyware on the Server.
