  • 1.  SEP blocks Intel WiDi (Wireless Display)

    Posted Sep 13, 2013 09:50 AM

    Hi all.

We use SEP 12.1.3001.165 and our device for Intel Widi is the Netgear PTV3000 with latest firmware.

The Problem is that SEP blocks Intel WiDi. It only works when i use the "smc -stop" command.

I already tried the official firewall info from Intel which says that WiDiApp and Wireless PAN DHCP Server must be allowed.

Since this didnt work, the next thing i also allowed was a information i found in another antivirus forum: Multicast addresses IP 224.0.0.22

I also allowed the specific ip/net for the netgear device which is 192.168.3.xxx

However all this didnt work. It only works if i allowed the rule "allow all other ip traffic" which is a any any rule for service ip. and that is very bad to open.

    the logs didnt really help.

So i wonder, anyone here that also used intel widi and has this problems or has a good solution for getting it to work with sep?

    thanks for help!

Are you able to match up the time of when the block occurs to what's showing in the Traffic log?

sure, but nothing besides ipv6 gets blocked. and if we allow it, nothing changes.

    logs dont help.

You probably need to add a rule for the Ethernet and a specific Ethernet type

Did anyone find a resolution for this issue? I'm going to be doing some WiDi testing soon and SEP is known to be blocking it on our test machine, but allows it when SEP is disabled. If I find anything of use I'll post it in this chain.

I created another thread for myself to track.
