They only give it to those who ask for it. They can't just post it where it can readily be downloaded by anyone because malware authors could include that in their package to be more effective.

For all the people who wnat to get their hands of Cleanwipe, there is an easier alternative to phone support or PM'ig Techs on the forums, and waiting for them to get to office, read the PM, pull the case up and THEN email you the instructions.

Go to https://mysupport.symantec.com and register your company with your account number / support ID and the named account info. Once the initial setup is done, create a WEB Case using the Mysupport Tools and give a brief environment description, what is your issue (Preferably give the issue as "Need Cleanwipe Utility") and submit the case.
Turnaround times are pretty fast compered to phone support (due to Hold Times possibly) / PM'ing ppl and so on.

In case the Tech asks for more info, simply reply to the email and tell them that you want Cleanwipe as you have tried everything else. Easier way to get a faster response and turnaround time.

A web case also will help you to get faster status updates and see what is being doen with your case from within the Web inetrface.

    Hope this helps.

I highly suggest you contact one of the TSEs on the site vs. creating a web case, which doesn't always works as suggested above - they can be "lower" on the totem pole than folks who actually call in.  They won't provide the utility to anyone unless they've had a chance to actually create a Case ID, and have troubleshooted your issue.   If you dont' have a Case ID, which means a support case created and trackable, you will not receive it.

    Best,

    Eric

Well then in that case, simply raise the case severity.

This'll potentially get you a real fast response time for even a web case in case you are stuck. Use these codes ONLY and ONLY if you really are in a soup, and not anytime else.

@Abhishek Pradhan: thanks for the tip.
is the case sev a one time deal in the web case?
    thanks...

Nope. It's to signify that you are neck deep in poo and need some urgent help.

I dount that the same person would be so neck deep in poo over and over. If you really are stuck real bad, then the 1D or 1U should help for quick, otherwise the other severities are good enough.

BTW, if someone consistently opens all the cases with a 1D or 1U w/o a valid reason, he's bound to get a real dressing down, and may possibly lose out on support.

The problem with this suggestion is, We as technicians are not supposed to provide the Cleanwipe tool via the forums in any way, shape, or form. Policy dictates that a case be created so we can determine if Cleanwipe is the best solution to the issue, as too many people mis-use the tool. The tool is designed for using as a last resort, not in place of add/remove programs, as it does not completely remove the product, it simply removes what's necessary in order to be able to re-install the client.

That said, NO technicians on the forums should provide the Clenawipe tool via PM or any other method other than through a support case. Whether it be a web case, or to a customer that called in and created a case.

Not a good suggestion. Sev1 Up or Down should only to be used if your computers are non-functional and it is affecting productivity. Specifically a main file, or web server, a DC, or mission critical PC. If you create a Sev 1 up or down case and that's not the true siituation, the severity will be reverted back to an appropriate level and handled as such.

    Folks,

I'm closing this thread and making it read only.  If you are having major issues, you should call into support, bottom line.  They will determine if you are a candidate for cleanwipe.  Also editing a few posts as artificially increasing the severity type for a web case to simply jump in the queue is inappropriate.  Again, call in per Ted G above.

    Best,

    Eric
