SEP Client can't update after upgrade to SEP 12.1

Hi guy,

A few days ago, I upgrade the SEPM version 11 to 12. after this I upgrade some SEP client version 11 to 12.

My Problem is :

1. I can't export package client from SEPM console, so I install the client PC used SEP package from the disc and using client remote application.

2. After install, The client PC is detected online from SEPM console but can't update virus definition. But for the PC online to internet antivirus is up to date.

for the SEP client version 11 is already update.

 

What the problem is because I use the package from the installation cd ?
How to distinguish between SEP clients manage and unmanage, because the client PC is detected from SEPM ?

Upgrade clients to SEP 12.1 by Auto upgrade feature

Note : You must test the AutoUpgrade process before you attempt to upgrade a large number of clients in your production network. If you do not have a test network, you can create a test group. You can add a few non-critical clients to the test group and upgrade them by using AutoUpgrade. You can confirm the upgrade completed successfully by verifying the version number of the client software that appears in the About dialog box.

Hi Max,

Previously I already use auto upgrade feature, but the client PC still can't upgrade, so I try to manual upgrade and success, but the client PC is not up to date antivirus definition.

When I try to export package from SEPM console, the proces exporting can't finish.

HI,

Are you using SBE 12.1 ?

Your Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition clients will upgrade automatically once the Symantec Protection Center has been upgraded. No further action is required on your part to complete the upgrade process

I'm using symantec endpoint protection 11 and upgrade to version 12.

can you run repair option from add/remove program for SEPM and try exportin the package.

2. After install, The client PC is detected online from SEPM console but can't update virus definition. But for the PC online to internet antivirus is up to date.

if client is communicating with SEPM, can you check this link and verify everything is ok,

Ans :Upgrade.bat file could be found under C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin

Hi,

Could you please confirm the SEPM version?

The issue you mentioned was a known issue & has been fixed in SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1

Export of client package from SEPM never finishes
Fix ID: 2627397
Symptom: Export of a client package from SEPM does not complete on non-English Windows, when SEPM is configured to use the embedded database.
Solution: SEPM was modified to use a different database method to obtain binary stream data.

If not using RU1 MP1 then please upgrade the SEPM.

Hi Chetan,

Where I can download 12.1 RU1 MU1 ? because, previously I use SEP version 11.x and I just have serial number for SEP version 11.x. if I download via file connect I just found for SEP version 11.x

Hi,

Check your mailbox, you might have received upgrade notification from Symantec.In that email you would have received serial number to download SEP 12.1

If you have not received any notification please contact license department.

How to upgrade your SEP11 license to SEP12 online

SEP 11.x is a paper license product and SEP 12.1 is a software license product.

After successful upgrade you will have to activate the license.

You can activate your license in two way.

1) By entering your serial number which generally starts with "M", after entering serial number you can click on download license file & SEPM will download license for you.

2) You can also manually import .slf file into SEPM console, if you don't have .slf file then you will have to contact license department.

- When I check in SEPM consol, my SEPM upgrade expired is 240 days, but in your article is 90 days for   SEP 12.1 . Why ?

- I already try to activate this license by use slf file but the file is corrupt, how to repair this file ?

- For email address when register old SEP version is deleted, because the IT staff is resign. so I don't have notification from symantec.

How to downgrade SEPM and SEP client version 12 to 11, Because policy in my company not agree if using SEP 12.
