SEP client don't update on default server

  • 1.  SEP client don't update on default server

    Posted Mar 10, 2015 09:34 AM

    Hi,

I installed SEPM 12.1.5 on Windows 2003 with default options. There is only one server.

    I have 90 clients under Windows 7

Every client are managed and are displayed on the manager. The communication between clients and server is OK.

I upgraded all the clients since 12.1.2015.2015 version to 12.1.5337.5000 directly from the console last 02nd Mars. I choose the packet and I scheduled the update. All my clients are now in 12.1.5337.5000 version

    This is my problem :

When I update a client from the console, the old version is uninstalled by the new version. At the end of the install, SEP ask to the user to reboot the computer. After the reboot, new version is installed (with the green dot) and updated with the last definitions : so everything is allright.

But today (10th Mars), I saw that client don't update automatically. The last update of all the clients date of the installation so the 2nd Mars

If I look policy update on the server, the "use default management server" and "Use Liveupdate server" are both checked.

The scheduled is every 4hours ...

When I look on the startup screen of the console, on the bottom left :

the last symantec version is 09/03/2015 r34  but below on the "latest on the manager" I have "Information not currently available", is it normal ???

There is 1 hour I made a test : I unchecked "Use default management server" on the liveupdate options and now all my clients are now updated but I would prefer that clients are updated by management server.

Are you seeing any errors in the console as to SEPM not updating or LU not running? Is there a proxy in place? if so, did you verify the settings in SEPM?

Can you run the symhelp tool on the SEPM to check for issues:

    Hi,

Thank you for postin in Symantec community.

Q.the last symantec version is 09/03/2015 r34  but below on the "latest on the manager" I have "Information not currently available", is it normal ???

--> No, it's not normal. Ideally it should show date.

It seems since SEPM upgrade clients haven't received new defiinitions. Could you repair the SEPM via add/remove programs?

Try to run liveupdate manually see if you get success, Start --> Run --> Luall

Chetan => Luall is successful but nothing change. "information not currently available" is displayed.

I don't repair for the moment SEPM installation because first installation was successful. Are you sure it is necessary to repair ? No risk ?

Brian => I execute SymHelp and I have 1 warning about space disk on system C:

The message indicate that there is the minimum of 16 Go but not the 100 go recommanded.

I have 40 Go free on C: and I don't understand because I installed SEPM on D: with 300 Go free

I don't think that this message is relevant to the problem...

And 1 error : no application use 8445 port listen report console (httpd.ex) with state of ' '

The problem is at your SEPM,

Your SEPM does not have latest defs from internet

admin- servers- select show liveupdate downloads? whats the date you see?

Have you set proxy settings on your SEPM?

SEPM thinks that It has latest updates,

    first try this

open cmd prompt navigate to Bin folder

     cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Protection Center\bin
    9.   Type
lucatalog.exe -cleanup  When the command line path returns, cleanup is done.
    10. Type
    lucatalog.exe -forcedupdate

run liveupdate , if that does not work, unisntall /reinstall liveupdate as per this document

Can you upgrade the SEPM manually?

Download .jdb files to update definitions for Endpoint Protection Manager.

Rafeeq => When I want to browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Protection Center\bin  with command prompt Access is denied on "bin" folder

I am connected with the domain admin account.

Chetan => What is the correct definition I'm supposed to download for SEPm 12.1.5 ??

    - File Based Protection

    - Network based protection

    - Behavior base protection

    - Reputation based protection

I try to repair SEPM but it change anything, always the same problem ....

    I'm sorry for the annoyance

    Thanks for your help

Rafeeq => I type lucatalog -cleanup and lucatalog -forcedupdate and I run Liveupdate but nothing change.

However I noticed an error when I proceed to liveupdate :

SEPM tell me : "Space disk on your drive is less than 512 Mo, SEPM needs more space to perform tasks."

Maybe it could be origins of the problem, don't you think ?

This message is strange because I have 3 partitions and the server (C: D: E:), I installed SEPM on D: drive and there is lot of free space disk on each drive.

    40 Go free on C:

    500 Go free on D:

    200 Go free on E:
