I would like to know about the upgrade schedule option which can be defined inside Client Install Package.

What does "Distribute  Upgrade over no of days"?

Can someone briefly explain?

Thank you.

Understanding.

Hello,

Here is the Explaination:

Upgrade Schedule, let's you control the time of the client computer upgrade.

  • From, To

Specifies a range of time over which to install packages. If the From and To times match, the upgrades start immediately.

  • Distribute upgrades over:

Specifies the number of days over which the packages can be distributed. The following formula calculates time:

(Package Size/Server Transfer Rate) * Number of Computers as MB / MB per second * Num = seconds

Hope that helps!!

Hi Mithun, What if i

Hi Mithun,

What if i configure both settings?

For example time is from 1400 till 1800 and distribute over 1 days.

How about if i only configure one setting which is distribute over 1 days? When will the upgrade start?

I find both settings do not work properly.

Explaination

Hello,

If you configure both settings with Time of 1400 till 1800 hours, and you have to distribute 20 computers in the above 4 hours; in that case it would distribute the update in 1 day (0 -1 OR 24 hours) and the time scheduled would be during 1400 to 1800 hrs.

If you have configured 1 setting to distribute over 1 day (24 hours) - in that case it would start the distribution randomly at any time starting from the time you have applied the policy.

Again, when you apply the policy, you would have to have the clients machines turned on.

Again, since this is a Remote Installation, make sure The Remote Registry Service is not set to disabled on the client computer

If the Remote Registry Service is stopped and set to Disabled on the client computer, the manager cannot scan the client registry because the service cannot be started. To solve this problem, make sure that the Remote Registry Service is set either to Manual or Automatic.

To check the Remote Registry Service

  1. Click Start Settings Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
  3. Double-click Services.
  4. Double-click Remote Registry.
  5. Make sure that the Startup Type is set to either Manual or Automatic.
  6. Click OK.

Hope that helps!!
