  • 1.  SEP client install through SCCM OS deployment task Sequence

    Posted Sep 10, 2013 08:53 AM

I am trying to install SEP as part of an SCCM task sequence during operating system deployment,  After SEP task has installed System will be reboot at end of SEP client instalaltion.  But we have a problem here,  Even System was rebooted , when we click  on SEP icon on task menu , it is showing as Symantec client require reboot , not why SEP client require reboot again , already we have rebooted when SEP client installed .

Normally we have Push the SEP client upgrade through SCCM , in this procedure once when  client is  rebooted  at end of installation , we are not seeing any reboot message when we open the SEP icon from Task menu,

Why this is happening for for OSD task sequences. Any ideas..????

we have are using SEPM 12.1 RU3 and Client also same version . SCCM 2007 R2

Is it only on the task tray icon that it shows this?

Does it eventually go away or does it stay like this?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

Are you doing an upgrade or it's a fresh install?

You have not attached requested logs (SEP_Inst.log). Log file can give some helpful into to troubleshoot issue further.

If issue is occuring with fresh install as well then need to log a case with Support because it's a latest version of SEP.

    Hello,

Process for installing the client using Microsoft Systems Management Server

    Step

    Description

    Step 1

Create a software installation package with Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager that contains the software and policies to install on your client computers. Additionally, this software installation package must contain a file named Sylink.xml, which identifies the server that manages the clients.

    Step 2

Create a source directory and copy Symantec client installation files into that source directory. For example, you would create a source directory that contains the installation files for Symantec client software.

    Step 3

Create a package, name the package, and identify the source directory as part of the package.

    Step 4

Configure the Program dialog box for the package to specify the executable that starts the installation process, and possibly specify the msi with parameters.

    Step 5

Distribute the software to specific Collections with Advertising.

    Check these Articles:

Using MSI Command Line Switches to install SEP 12.1 fails to install or fails to abide by switch parameters

The above article also applies to Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

    Hope that helps!!
