  • 1.  SEP Client installed on SEPM Server

    Posted May 18, 2010 03:32 PM

    Hi all,

I am having a problem with my SEPM server.  I have SEPM set up and have installed the SEP client.  The client never shows it status (in the tray) as connected (with the green dot) and continually shows that the it's deffinitions are out of date.  I have other client setup, using the saem install package and they connect and update corectly.

    I'm running 11.0.5002.333

    Thanks for any help,

    Bill.

I would recommend you run the support tool. It has the ability to identify issues. Open the sep client then select help and support and select download support tool and see what errors come up.

Open SEP client- Help and Support -Troubleshooting

What does it say is it offline or Self-Managed ?

It sounds like SMC is not running. And what the other agents said as well. Sounds like the client install didn't get installed properly. How was it installed? Were you in an rdp session?

Here are the answers to your questions, hope it can shed some light on thsi issue.

Vikram - It has the correct server name and the correct group.  It is also shown in the SEPM remote console, but without the green dot.  It does not indicate wither offline or self-managed.

iofractal - The only warnings displayed are asking if SEP and SEPM are the latest versions.

Scuba Steve - I do have an instance of Smc.exe running according to task manager.  The server is a VM on a vShpere 4 host and I installed SEPM and SEP through the VMWare console.

    Thanks again.

Delete the client from SEPM..then right click on client and click update policy and check i it comes back in SEPM with green dot..

If not then you might try running sylink monitor and post the communication logs

try to restart services of symantec (services.msc) then reboot your client.
