SEP Client & LiveUpdate not working

We have a couple of unmanaged SEP 11 MR4 clients that will not get updates automatically.  The LiveUpdate session completes successfully with no errors in the logs, but the new definitions are not applied.  I have watched both the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate\Downloads folders for activity during the LU process.  In the Downloads folder, I can see the archives being downloaded from the Symantec servers, and in the VirusDefs folder I can see the tmp folders being created, but the new definition folder with the date of the definitions is never created.  Log.LiveUpdate reports no errors and 2 updates were installed with 0 failures.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Brian

You might try these

You might try these instructions.  service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/691fb01f62f2a700882573c2006d6de7

Try deleting the contents in

Try deleting the contents in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs folder and then try the updates.
On one of the machines on which Unmanaged client is installed go to start >> run >> and type luall and hit enter this will download the definitions directly from the internet.

In case only AV/AS feature is installed try downloading the latest definitions from the exe file and run it on the machine in question because through this option only AV/AS definitions will be updated. The PTP & NTP definitions will not be updated.

Let us know whether it helped

I have tried to clear out the

I have tried to clear out the definitions manually using the above article, no success.  The weird part is, if I download the intelligent updater from Symantec, it updates them just fine, but LiveUpdate won't create that final folder with the date/time stamp of the definitions.

Just a point to keep in mind, this is on a domain controller in a production environment, so I can't start uninstalling clients, rebooting, etc as it serves as primary DNS and primary authentication for a lot of servers.

Thanks!

uninstall liveupdate and

uninstall liveupdate and  install newer version.
Change the lu setting( in control panel) to interactive mode... and launch luall.exe(Program files\symantec\liveupdate)... It will show the details of updates it is downloading....
(You can Repair SEP. NO need to reboot after that.....)

Try installing the Liveupdate 3.4 after installing the previous version of 3.3

You can download it from   ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/li...
