  • 1.  SEP Client: Move Default Virus Definition Location

    Hello everyone,

On Windows 7, the default location of the SEP client virus definitions is:

    C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SEPVERSION\Data\Definitions

Is there a process to move the the virus definition location to another drive? (before install or after install) If so, what is the process?

    Kind regards,

    Cameron

Thanks Brian. That was my understanding.

Is there an unsupported way to move the definition location?

Defs are hard-coded to install to C: so not to my knowledge unless there is something internally to Symantec that they haven't shared.

If you deploy an "AV ONLY" SEP Agent, you can relocate Definition files post-install.

It's a manual process however, requires Tamper Protection to be at least temporarily disabled, and any Agent reinstalls or upgrades requires the process to be repeated.
