  • 1.  SEP Client Stops Youtube?

    Posted Jan 16, 2012 03:25 PM

I have a user who is having an issue with Youtube and SEP in general. Youtube videos only play for 7-10 secons and then stop. When the SEP client is disabled the Youtube videos will run normally. The user is also experiencing intermittent internet connectivity as well. One other strange occurrance is when we disable the SEP client, a local print driver will try to install like it was waiting for the SEP client to get out of the way.

For the Youtube issue I tried updating the video drivers on the Dell Latitude E3250<?>. I also installed the latest versioni of Java. After a reboot there was no relief from the issue.

I placed the computer into its own group in SEPM and allowed ARP traffic, but that did not do any good either.

Is anyone else experiencing this? The user says it began last week some time.

    Thanks!

What are the component of SEP installed?

Honestly it is very strange issue.

    Please update your flash player.

Make sure the firewall is not blocking the exe for that

We have the SEP 12.1 client with everything running except for NAC. I considered the Flash Player update but couldn't convince myself that would be the reason why things went crazy. I'll try it tomorrow, though, and report back. Thanks!

Do you see traffic log blocking the traffic to the website?

Check the client logs and let us know which component blocks the traffic.

I had checked the Firewall logs and it was polluted with blocking incoming and outgoing ARP traffic. That's why I put the computer into its own group and allowed that traffic. There was absolutlely no other records in the FW log. Nothing in the risk log, etc.; It's very puzzling because nothing is being logged that lends itself to a solution, but when the SEP client is disabled then youtube works fine. I also checked the System and Application logs in Windows Management. Nothing there that's a red flag either. There was one COM+ eror so I went into the Component Manager and got that one registered. Once I did that then that error went away. It defies logic.

can you enable the logging on all the rules if it has not been done so?

I uninstalled and reinstalled SEP and the problem went away. However as soon as I uninstalled it a print driver installation notification popped up. That's what I was referring to earlier when I mentioned the driver installation attempt. In any case, he can Youtube now and the issue is closed.

    Thanks for the feedback!!

Dou you have any additional Firewall or application control policy implemented or is it default

Default. It must've just been something trashed with the client installation since it works fine after a reinstall.
