SEP Client upgrade from 11.0.4 MR4 into SEP v12.1 RU1 MP1

    Hi All,

    Can I deploy the SEP client from from 11.0.4 MR4 into SEP v12.1 RU1 MP1 ?

    or do I have to deploy it in a staged with every workstation in my company require major reboot during the business hours ?

    most of my clients are of course WIndows XP SP3 and some Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit.

    Hello Dushan,

     

    No, you cannot deploy the clients from 11.0.4 to 12.1RU1MP1 because MP1 is just a patch which is a part of 12.1RU1. In order to upgrade to MP1, you need to have RU1

    Hence you can upgrade from 11.0.4 to 12.1RU1 and then to MP1.

    Thanks for the advie Homer,

    So how can I do the company wide upgrade to the latest edition without having to do twice reboot every week ?

    Can I create the inline upgrade package or inject the installation so that it can be just pushed install once from the SEPM ?

    its not recommended to directly upgrade to SEP clients to 12.1 RU1 MP1 without going first with SEP 12.1 RU1.

     

    You can us ethe autoupgrade feature from SEPM for upgrading the clients, however first it has to be SEP 12.1 RU1 then to RU1 MP1.

    Ok,

    Hi,

    Reboot is must if doing upgrade from SEP 11.x to SEP 12.1.

    Supported upgrade path is common for both i.e. SEPM and SEP clients

    SEP 11 RU4 --> SEP 12.1 RU1  --> SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1

    If not facing any issue then I would suggest to postpone the upgrade plan.

    SEP 12.1 RU2 may release in upcoming months, probably after RU2 release you can directly upgrade from SEP 11 RU4 to SEP 12.1 RU2.(But not sure also at this point)

    atleast one restart is required for ntp drivers to be active. you can restart at any time.
