SEP client Upgrade Schedule checkbox confusion

    Hi All,

    If I'd like to perform "immediate" client upgrade to the client in a certain group, should I check the Upgrade Schedule or just leave it unchecked ?

    Leaving it unchecked is the easiest way. It should start the upgrade when the client checks in on next heartbeat.

    If you check it but don't adjust the schedule than it will use the default of 00:00 to 23:59. But for sanity sake it's easier to uncheck so you can ensure it happens automatically.

    Cool, so by default if I just leave it unchecked the upgrade will be done immediately based on your explanation.

    Yes, the client will get the command on the next heartbeat and it should begin soon after.

    Do I have to change the "Distributes the upgrades over" .... days into 0 or just leave it 1 ?

    Just know that it will force a restart immediately. It's up to you on how you want to handle this though.

    these settings will be effect if the clients are upgraded to SEP 12.

    Ah, so this policies won't work when upgrading client from v 11.0.4 into 12.1 ?

    I just knew it then.. :-)

    when you upgrade SEP 12.x to SEP 12.X version then this will be effective :-)

    Won't apply to 11.x at all, only 12.1

    Brian and Pete,

    Thank you for the clarification, so what happened to the SEP v 11.0.7 MP4 and RU7 client that I'd like to upgrade to v 12.1.2 RU2 ?

    are they going to be restarted or the upgrade would failed ?

    it will be upgraded, however the restart will not happen as the SEP 11 is still installed . To SEP 12 to be active the system must go for a restart, but the restart option which you have shown will not take place as SEP 11 client will not take feature.

    Please check and let us know.
