This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi Folks,

Can anyone please let me know what are the difference between the older SEP v11.0.6 client and the newer SEP v12.1.3 client ?

I have successfully ugpraded the SEPM server to be 12.1.3 but most of my servers are still on the older client v11 which still works, I'm not sure what are the differences because upgrading the client could cause a potential reboot even for the Antivirus component only.

Cool, many thanks for the clarification people.

because at the moment I find it hard to convince my manager to upgrade the Antivirus Client into the latest edition, because even with the latest 12.1 SEPM server the client v 11.0.6 is still working without any issues at all.

very soon the SEP 11 definition is going to be ceased, hence you may think of upgrading the SEP clients.

check the support policy for the SEP 11.

When are the EOLS and EOSL dates?

Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x reaches EOLS on January 4, 2014 and EOSL on September 27, 2014.

What do EOL and EOSL mean for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x customers?

EOLS means that as of January 4, 2014, no new versions of Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x are under development or are planned for release. All support services, including without limitation, bug fixes/patches and engineering modification, for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x will end on the EOLS date. Customers are no longer entitled to content (virus definitions).

EOSL means that as of September 27, 2014, all support services, including technical support, are no longer provided for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x. This is the end of the product life cycle.
