    Hello all,

We are a small company using SEP 11.0.6005.562, which was installed and running correctly in a workgroup environment of 8-10 machines. Due to a change in inventory software we are switching from a workgroup to a domain. Here's where my issue begins. SEPM installed on the new server (SBS 2011 Essentials) without issue. I uninstall the previous client on my 32-bit XP machine. When I use the "Find Unmanaged Computers" tool, XP machines appear as "Unmanaged" and Vista/Win7 machines appear as "Unknown." From this tool I install the client software remotely to my machine. The "Find Unmanaged Computers" tool reports a successful installation, but the client machine never appears in the Client view and if I run the "Find Unmanaged Computers" tool again the client still appears as "Unmanaged". If I try to manually add my machine to the Client view, it says that "clients have not yet connected to the server." It seems to me that if I can remotely install the client, then it should appear in the SEPM and I should be able to update definitions on the client. What am I missing?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Windows 2011 SBS Server has a Windows Firewall.

You could either Turn off the Windows Firewall OR create port Exception for the SEP 11. Here is an Article:

Which Communication Ports does Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 use?

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102416

Symantec Endpoint Protection: Troubleshooting Client/Server Connectivity

Again, SBS 2011 is definitely supported with SEP 11 RU5 and above:

Here is another recommended article as well:

    Hope that helps!!

    Hi,

For some reason packages are not able to deploy on clients.

Best way would be to check SEP_Inst.log , file will find at %temp% directory.

Log may tell us what causing such issue.

However for testing purpose try to deploy package locally on machine instead of remote deploy.

Check after deploying package locally it's being managed or not ?

Thanks for the help. The information in the first article seems to be the ticket. My XP machines are updating seem to be communicating well now. I have figured out my issues with the Vista/Win7 machines... apparently whomever procured these machines, got the Home Premium versions of Windows which do not have the capability of joining a domain. But I have managed to get the clients up and running on these machines.

    Thanks, again.
