  • 1.  SEP clients not updating from local GUP

    Hi there,

    I have a problem with our local SEP clients not updating their definitions from the local GUP. We have our SEPM overseas and then two local GUPs here in our office, however, all our local SEP clients are not pulling updates from local GUPs. Interestingly one of our local GUPs is running the same SEP client version (V11.0.7400.1398) as all others and it has the most up-to-date definitions, however, the other local GUP is not.

    I have enabled Sylink.log on my machine - which I have attached here along with the debug.log as well. 

    I can telnet to the working local GUP so I don't understand why the definitions are not pulling across.

    SEP 11.x is not supported and EOL on January 5th, 2015,. You cannot be get the defintion longer for the 11.x clients

    I suggest you to upgrade the version in 12.x

    Just to clarify the debug log is from the GUP or from the client that is not taking an update?

    You won't get updates because you're running SEP 11.x which went end of support life on 1/5/15. You need to move to 12.1.5 now.

    if you are sure that others are getting updates and not this one. ( there are means where you can still get 11.x defs, I guess )

    Hi,

    On January 5th, 2015, Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11.0.x reached end of support life. Virus definitions and security updates ceased to be published to LiveUpdate and general support for the product is no longer provided.

    The initial end of support life date was originally scheduled for January 5th, 2014. All customers were provided a complimentary extention. No further extentions will be provided.

    It's strongly recommended to upgrade to SEP 12.1, RU5 is the latest release.

    Hi All,

    Thanks for responding and letting me know the EOL change. It appears our SEPM was upgraded to version 12 overseas. I have updated the SEP Client on the local GUP that is not working as well as the local client that is not working and now they both have the most up-to-date definitions etc.

    We are on Version 12.1.4100.4126.
