Hey,

I am looking at restoring a number of SEP embedded databases for audit purposes and I need to know a couple of things. I have already looked at the best practise guides so I am going to set up a new SEP manager and use the database restore.

Does the version of SEPM have to be the same as the version of the embedded database I want to restore?

Do I have to give the server the same hostname and IP address?

Do I need the recovery file?

Basically I need to bring up a few old databases and run some reports off them for an audit.

Any help would be great, thanks.

J

yes, the version of SEPM has to be same.

Do I have to give the server the same hostname and IP address?

it does not matter since no clients are not going to connect.

Do I need the recovery file?

no need.

Hey,

Does anyone know how I determine what version of SEP was used to back up a particular database?

Thanks

HI,

If you are using any Netbackup tool for take backup so you can verify sepm server ip address and host name after you can check what sep version are running.

Hey,

I only have the databases, I was wondering if I could tell what version of SEP the database backup was taken from.

Anyone else have an opinion on this? Does anyone know how I determine what version of SEP was used to back up a particular database? I need to know before I can build the SEP manager what version the backup of the database is. Thanks.

With each of the database backups you have - do you have as well the database logs? (sem5.log)

If yes then you can open the log in notapad and search for the following entries:

- LastRunServerVersion

- SemServerProductVersion

Hey,

I ended up having to restore SQL databases on this one. It was tricky enough but I got it to work. Basically mounted the SQL DB, ran a fresh SEPM install and ran the configuration wizard followed by the upgrade.bat file. For now it is working. Thanks for the help.
