Hello,
Could you please let us know on what OS is the SEPM server installed??
Is it Windows XP / Windows 2003 / Windows 2008?
How are you trying to deploy the package? Is it from the Client Deployment Wizard??
Did you check the client machine if there was any installation initiated?
When you say deployment is failing...does that mean "Package does not get deployed from the SEPM" OR Does that mean "Package is getting deployed from SEPM, however the installation fails at the client machine?"
If the deployment is failing from the SEPM and it is a SEPM 12.1, then could you try Deploying the package via Push Deployment Wizard?

Ports required by Find Unmanaged Computers:
Either TCP port 139 or 445 need to be open for the installation package to be delivered to the remote computer. If UDP port 137 is closed, the Endpoint Protection Manager will not be able to list the hostname of the computer during the initial scan. (Though deployment can still be carried out by manually entering the IP address of the prospective client.)

...can you ping the remote machines from SEPM? Most likely firewall on XP is blocking the connection.
simple file sharing should be disabled and also the windows firewall( you should create exception for port) check these two.
