This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

We're testing SEP 12.1 Deployment on a machine that has Mcafee Viruscan + Antispyware, and the antivirus component got removed, but the Host Intrusion Prevention System is still running. We already disable the Tamper Protection Policy on the Mcafee Management Server (ePO) and still the HIPS functionality was still running. Anyone can help?

Thanks,

You should remove Mcafee first before installing SEP

Hi, There's an option to the install settings on the sepm that I applied on the package that I used to uninstall existing protection.

Agreed with above comments.

Please remove Mcafee anti virus first and then reboot the system then install sep.

Thank& Regards,

Use third party software uninstaller if you are deploying the SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1 or above:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH178757

...otherwise you can you the SEPprep tool:

If you want to use the built-in feature for third-party security software removal, check to make sure the exact product and version of the McAfee product you are trying to remove is on the supported removal list. If it is not, it won't work and you may need a removal tool from McAfee.

SEP 12.1 RU2 added support for the removal of a lot of additional products and product versions. See the PDF attached to the following KB document:

Third-party security software removal support in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU2
