    Hi,

I have a brand new Dell just out of the box. After installing windows updates I tried to install SEP but I keep saying the system needs a reboot. After several reboots it still has the same message. I tried several articles on the fourm about deleting registry keys etc but I still get the same error. I am running version 12.1.4013.4013. The strange thing is I have already installed this on 6 other identical boxes without any issue.

    Thanks in advance,

    Poco

Delete below reg key and re-try install. DO NOT reboot after deleting the key. Immediately run the setup after deleting.

Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\

    delete PendingFileRenameOperations key

    Open registry and go to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\
hight light Session Manager on the right hand side delete the value
    PendingFileRenameOperations

Also delete the same value from
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

then run the install...without rebooting the PC

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I had already seen you post these suggestions in other threads and I have already tried this. At the moment both keys are deleted and I still get the same error. I tried creating a new admin account and I get the same error.

Have you try Clean wipe tool ?

First you can try clean wipe tool and again try to install.

Latest version of CleanWipe is available 12.1.4013.4013 in

    Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.4_Part2_Tools_EN\CleanWipe on file connect

    https://symantec.flexnetoperations.com/control/symc/registeranonymouslicensetoken

    on

To get that Cleanwipe Utility, you will have to call symantec or log a web case.

    James 007 (and everyone else),

I have the same problem as Poco. I have tried everything listed in the forums concerning registry alterations over and over again and I have had no luck.

I tried to get the CleanWipe tool, but it requires a serial number.  I dont have a serial number.  I am using a SEP provided to me by my company, so it was a secure download.  no disc, no box= no serial number.

    Can you help me please??

Im using a brand new dell with windows 8.1, 64 bit

Brian, Thank you. I was able to download and install the link you sent, but unfortunatly, it did not work. I tried it 3 times in combo with the registry deletions.  Im still getting the same "reboot" error message.

James, The download is titled WIN64BIT_RU4.  According to my office's download help page, the program is called SEP RU2(12.1.2)

Cooldude, I've tried the deletions listed in the article over 30 times changing my methods to ensure Im doing it correctly.

My office's tech support is worthless. Apparantly it works for other people, so it must be me. uhhhhh :(

    What's next??

James, I think that was an old help page entry.  Im sure the program is actually RU4

You can download the client setup from file connect and install the same.
