If you already have a gateway mail scanner than you should not need the outlook addin. It can safely be disabled.

I take it that's done on each workstation individually, not via the management console..?

You can disable the outlook scanner via the SEPM for all clients

In your AV policy under Email Scans go to Microsoft Outlook Auto-Protect and uncheck the option for Enable Microsoft Outlook Auto-Protect

It seems that disabling the SEP Outlook module hasn't corrected the issue.

I'm loathe to disable SEP entirely for obvious reasons, but I'm pretty sure that it's the cause, as this issue didn't exist for the years prior to the recent move to SEP.

Any further thoughts appreciated.

Do you have the firewall enabled? Anything showing in the Traffic log?

The SEP firewall is enabled.

I can't see anything in the Traffic log that looks iffy (not that I'm entirely clear what I may be looking for). Daily there's approx. 10+ blocked incoming UDP calls to different Remote Ports - under Rule: Block Web Services Discovery. Everything else has been Allowed.

As a test can you disable and try the sync again?

I believe it uses port 443 for Outlook.exe and ProfileEditor.exe

But a quick test can rule out the firewall

I'm sorry, I think we've slightly crossed wire's, but only in as much as the GASMO does sync (at some predetermined interval). However (eg.) on a longer email (ie. where some edits/changes are made post a sync), the additions/changes are 'disappearing' when Sent (ie. it's going out incomplete). So, the longer the mail, the more likely to occur. Somehow, short mails go out OK.

So I don't think the firewall can be causing this, as I'd expect it to not allow any sync'ing at all.

If you like I could test this tomorrow anyway..

It's the first version of SEP I've installed on this system.

the latest is
