SEP driver crashing on Windows 7 x64
Hi, I have installed the 64-bit version of a managed client (11.0.4202.75) on a Windows 7 RTM x64 Enterprise machine for testing. I am recieving this error on bootup of Windows:
"The application (Confidence Online Utility Driver, from vendor Symantec) has the following problem: A driver is installed that causes stability problems with your system. This driver will be disabled. Please contact the driver manufacturer for an update that is compatible with this version of Windows."
I'm running this on a Dell Optiplex 960, with Dell's Windows 7 drivers. Also, the desktop has a lot of security and management hardware, so Embassy and Intel AMT are installed. Besides that it's a "blank" install.
Any idea what this is, and if there is a fix?
Thanks,
Max

If you are running for testing purposes, you may be ok. I am unsure how all the features and functionality are impacted by the new OS. If you can, hang tight for RU5.

Confidence Online Utility Driver
Is the internal name for the Proactive Threat Protection component.
I recommend modifying your install to include only Antivirus and Antispyware component.
That is the way I have had it installed on my x64 Windows 7 RTM machine for 2 weeks now without error. (11.0.4202.75)
Oddly, on another machine
Oddly, on another machine with Windows 7 x64 that I'm testing, I have recieved no errors or crashes at all. And this is my full-time office workstation.
Same problem on Windows 7 x86
I have the same problem on a laptop using Windows 7 Ultimate x86 RTM .
Will the corrected version be distributed thru LiveUpdate?
@Laurus
Please be informed that SEP11 RU 5 that supports Windows 7 is now available in Fileconnect https://fileconnect.symantec.com/licenselogin.jsp?localeStr=en_US
Please use the serial number you have for SEP to download the latest version. You shouldn't have any issues with it.

I have the same error on my Windows Ultimate 64-bit and I just use the Anti-virus and Proactive threat protection. I will push RU5 as soon as its out.

SEP 11.0.5 is already
SEP 11.0.5 is already released September 21, 2009. If you have the serial number for the SEP you can use it and go to fileconnect.symantec.com. If you have SMP 11.0.2 you need to call Customer care and asked for a serial number to download SEP 11.0.5. Make sure that you have the serial number because that is the basis for you to be provided a serial number to download the MR5.
SEP 11.0.5 is a go
I used my serial number from Symantec MP 11.0.2 and RU 5 is available!! They must have got the message.

MR5
Will this version allow us to push from the console or will we still need to copy the contents of the SEP folder locally, then run LUSETUP.EXE, then reboot, then run setup.exe?
install
I installed it normally from the setup.exe on my test machine without incident
I am going to push it from my Notification Server this morning to the production machines.
I am sure you can push it from your SEPM too.

Version 12.0.1001.95 - no more confidence error
After downloading and installing 12.0.1001.95 I no longer get the "confidence" error on my win7-64 machines. After download/install of the program it automatically pushed the update out to the clients and the confidence error has not shown up in the error logs. I contacted Symantec support via phone and they pointed me to the download. Just needed to enter my serial number.
