SEP - Exceso en numero de licencias

Created: 11 Nov 2013 | 21 comments

Hola.

Gracias.

Just delete the old client from the console and it will free up a license.

See here for further info

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH168121

  1. In the SEPM, go to the Admin page.
  2. Select Domains.
  3. Under Tasks, select Edit Domain Properties
  4. In the Edit Domain Properties window, on the default General tab, note the option to "Delete clients that have not connected for specified time."

Set it to a lower time, such 7 days instead of the normal 30

 Hola.

In the SEPM, go to the Admin page.

  1. Select Domains.
  2. Under Tasks, select Edit Domain Properties
  3. In the Edit Domain Properties window, on the default General tab, note the option to "Delete clients that have not connected for specified time.

Check this artical

_Brian & James007.

Did you than run "Rebuild indexes" and " Truncate the database transactionlogs" ?

What happens when you manually delete a client?

And does it free up licenses if you just manually delete clients?

hmontero's picture

That´s right... i´ve deleted manually clients and doesn´t free licences.

Once add a licence...does not free it anymore.

hmontero's picture

I'm not using a clone system.

James007..sorry, but i don´t understand the last question.

If you prefer...write in english..

tks

James007's picture

Ok.. Did you check any duplicate system are available in sepm Console ?

hmontero's picture

I found that if I delete a client the license number decreases.
but still I have a very high percentage of licenses used according to the SEP reports in relation to reality (400% more).

is there a command that could i run to SEP conduct a re-scan of the licenses?

.Brian's picture

There is no command to run to re-check.

I would set the number of days to delete offline clients to something like 1 or 2 days and re-check.

hmontero's picture

mmm..that´s not easy.

I have clients that travel and re-connect to domain once a week or two weeks.

In this case i would have to re-connect to many clients again !!!

That´s not practical

James007's picture

That is not problem when your travel client come for network automatic sep client will come in you sepm.

hmontero's picture

Thank you...i will try this option.

Later... i´ll tell you...

.Brian's picture

Yea but they will go into the default group, which may contain a different policy than what he wants applied. So just be aware of that hmontero
