SEP - Firewall is malfunctioning

  • 1.  SEP - Firewall is malfunctioning

    Posted Apr 22, 2015 10:47 AM

I've recently logged onto the SEPM Server and noticed that one of the SEP Clients was showing as 'offline'
Upon inspection of the SEP Client I noticed that it had a good amount of 'Error's.
The Errors that were showing were as follows:

    Firewall is Disabled
    Firewall is Malfunctioning.

It's also clear that when selecting the 'Fix' Button, nothing happens.

If you could please advise RE: this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    F

    Hi 007,

Would you class this as the same issue?
With this instance of the issue; the SEP Client had been functioning for a long period of time before malfunctioning.

If this helps in any way the client with the issue is situated on a web server, within a VMWare Environment.

    Thanks,
    F

Have you tried just running a repair on the client?

    Hi Brian,

    Thanks for the swift response.

    Just being a bit overly cautious here..;
Would I require to re-input any form of Licencing to complete a 'repair' on the client?
If so, how would I go about locating the individual licence key/serial number for a specific client?

    Thanks,
    F

After the install, when attempting to open up SEP I've received a message stating that Symantec Services were not running (I noticed they were stopped during the attempted 'repair') what's happening now, after startin g the Symantec Services back up and opening the client, is instead of the Firewall malfunctioning, I'm now receiving a message stating that my definitions are out of date. *See Attached*

It may take some time to pull down defs from the SEPM. Be patient.

If after some time it is still the same, then try a reboot/repair of the client.

    Hi All,

Apologies for my impatience, it's now showing a message with a green tick stating 'Your computer is protected' So I presume all is well.

I have also checked the SEPM Server, and instead of being listed under 'Offline Endpoints' it has now joined the list of 'Online Endpoints'

Many thanks for all of your help - it is greatly appreciated.
