  • 1.  SEP Firewall Not Installing

    Posted Apr 21, 2010 02:12 PM

    Hi All,

I've deployed a SEP client install twice to my SEPM server (Server 2008 Standard x64), each time the install goes well, however the firewall is not installing.  I know that Proactive Threat Protection is not supported for Server OS's so I can understand why this is set to off.  However, I don't understand why the Firewall is not installing, as it is part of the standart Network Threat Protection NOT Proactive Threat Protection.

    Thoughts?  Suggestions?

    thanks,

    Curtiplas

You need to Reboot the server in-order to get (Network Threat Protection ) Firewall installed

Firewall should be supported. Reboot and it should come up.

We don't use the SEP firewall yet, but I was told by someone that it was not supported on x64.  So you guys are saying firewall IS support, it's PTP that is not supported?  Which version of SEP has x64 support for firewall?

    MR2  added-

    New features
Support for Microsoft Windows 2008 Server clients
Support for Windows Server 2008 Standard/Enterprise/Datacenter/Web (32-bit or x64 edition), including Server Core installation, has been added to the Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Network Access Control clients. Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and the deployment tools have also been modified to support the management of Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Network Access Control clients that run on Windows Server 2008. However, the management components cannot be installed on a computer running Windows Server 2008.

blenahan,  Yep,  PTP is not supported on any Server OS's although, you can still do the application/device control if you allow PTP to be installed on Server OS's.\

BTW as per Vikram Kumar-SAV to SEP 's suggestion a restart did the trick... :-D
